Faculty may request research assistance from OCLS Librarians by completing our web form, by calling us at (800) 274-3838, or by using our chat interface. A librarian will reply to your query within 24-48 hours.
Faculty may request the delivery of library materials through the OCLS Document Delivery Office. Services include:
- 24-48 hour electronic delivery of articles
- Mail delivery of books, articles, and other materials owned by CMU Libraries
- Submission of interlibrary loan requests for items not owned by CMU Libraries
Document Delivery service is available seven days a week and requests may be submitted by phone to (800) 274-3838, by fax to (877) 329-6257, email, or web form.
Video resources:
- DVDs/VHS: Off-campus faculty may borrow videos through the OCLS Document Delivery service. Available video titles may be located by searching the Centra (to locate videos specifically, be sure to select DVD/Video from the pull-down menu in the Material Type: box before searching). To ensure that video titles are available for specific dates, please submit requests to DDO at least two weeks in advance.
- Streaming videos: OCLS has begun building a collection of streaming videos for use in instruction. Streaming videos are electronic resources that can be viewed entirely online, either in or outside of the classroom. To see our collection of streaming videos go to Centra and enter FMG in the Search for: box.
- Video purchases: You may recommend video titles to be purchased for the library collection. Purchases will be based on existing collection needs, anticipated demand, and availability of funds. If a requested item is purchased, you will be notified when the title is available for use. Videos will be added to the CMU Libraries collection and made available to both on- and off-campus faculty as well as to on-campus students.
Writing resources:
OCLS librarians have created a page that will help students plan, write, and edit their research papers. Off-campus students are also directed to CMU’s Writing Center, which allows students to submit written pages electronically and receive reviewer comments and suggestions for improvement within two business days.
Recent changes in and updates to the APA Style (the Sixth Edition was released in July, 2009), many of which will impact will impact your students, are discussed here.
